About Me

Myles André is a PhD student in the History of Art and Black Studies at Yale University whose current research concerns representations of the ground and land in visual culture, and works together Modern and Contemporary Art, Black Geographies, and Psychoanalytics.

Myles also helps coordinate the Black/Visual/Culture working group which facilitates collaborative research and programs that attend to questions of representation and cultural self-production. 

Myles was a researcher for Marking Time: Art in the Age of Mass Incarceration and To See in the Dark (2025) and has worked at the Yale University Art Gallery, The Studio Museum in Harlem, and The Africa Center. Myles holds an M.A. in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University and a B.A. in Media Studies from Pitzer College.
